Bucovina's mountains - the perfect place for hiking
Via Transilvanica starts in Bucovina.
The 136 km route brings to light scenic areas and historical monuments unique in the world. From the Putna Monastery, our route takes us towards the Sucevita depression - Vatra Moldoviței - Obcinele Bucovinei, continuing on towards the Dornelor Country embraced by the Giumalău, Suhard and Călimani mountains. From there, the road winds through hills and meadows to Poiana Negri with its wonderful springs, stopping at Poiana Stampei, the town that ends the route in the historic Bucovina region.
We pick you up at the aeroport and get you to the starting point of Via Transilvanica - On request we provide you a tour guide.
Bucovina - The land of Extreme Sports
The narrow-gauge railway from Moldovita was built in 1888. Currently, the line is 12 km long.
Bucovina's rich folk traditions have been nurtured from many sources, some of which are thousands of years old. Traditional folk arts include wood carving, ceramics, weaving, and embroidery of costumes, household decorations, dance, and richly varied folk music.
Traditional food is delicious and is made with simple, natural ingredients - mămăligă (corn polenta) served with fresh cheese and cream, sarmale (cabbage or vine leaves stuffed with meat and rice), jellied meat, sheep-milk cheese, fresh yogurt, eggs, and produce, sausages and salami made at home. The food can seem heavy, but it’s washed down nicely with a glass of ţuica (plum brandy). Cheers!
